What do cigarettes and yoga have in common?  I was pondering this today.

Six days a week I do yoga, with one day for rest.  It keeps me going.  Last year I made the decision to start getting up early for the morning class.

I now get up before sunrise and drive across town, watching the sun come up, heading off to early morning mysore yoga, and I love it!

Believe me, I am NOT a morning person.  When I first considered getting up before the sunrise to start moving my body, it seemed impossible.  But once I made the decision, I knew it would happen.

The first week I set my intention.  To rise before the sun and head off to do sun salutations.  There were a few steps I would take, through this process, before reaching my final destination:

Day One: I set my alarm.  In the morning, I slept right through it!

Day Two: I set my alarm.  In the morning, I woke up.  I turned off the alarm (with my eyes still closed).

Day Three: I set my alarm.  In the morning, I woke up.  I opened my eyes (still dark outside) rolled over and dropped back to sleep.

But then one morning,  I rose out of bed, and made it sleepily to yoga practice. I even managed to do this twice in one week.

And now, I am up and running in the morning, happy to watch the sun rise…and loving it.  Enjoying the morning freshness.

What does this have to do with cigarettes?

When people have an idea that they want to stop smoking cigarettes, that idea may first be, simply, an intention.  And then you begin to make moves towards it, like setting the alarm each day, with the intention of getting up.  There may be some steps along the way, and even setbacks, but once you make the decision, it will happen.

This is where hypnosis becomes a powerful tool to help you along the way.  For instance,  with my intention of becoming an early riser,  there were steps I could take to make the process easier.

For example, I could go to sleep before midnight.  I could change my eating habits, and drink more water, so my body would be healthy and strong during an intense morning workout.

Either way…the decision was made.  I am going to do this.  I am going to yoga in the morning.  But there are things I can do to make it easier, to make it a more enjoyable experience.

When you decide to stop smoking.  once you make that decision, it will happen.  You may first ‘consider it’  and then you may start taking steps.  And when you are ready to quit, hypnosis and NLP are powerful tools that will make that transition much easier.
